North Central History

The North Central Operations Division opened in January of 1986 in a church on the southwest corner of Frankford and Hillcrest with only fourteen patrol beats. In May of the same year the Division moved to its present location at the northeast corner of Hillcrest and McCallum. In 1986, the northern border extended to the Plano city limits, including the recently annexed community of Renner.

The eastern border followed Central Expressway up to the Richardson city limits and the western border was the Dallas North Tollway. The southern border was Royal Lane.

Today, the northern border remains the same, but the southern border now extends to Northwest Highway and follows the Park Cities down to Lovers Lane. The eastern border still follows Central up to Richardson and continues to Plano. The western boundary has expanded all the way to Webb Chapel and follows the city limits of Addison, Farmer's Branch, and Carrollton up to the Plano city limits.

With the addition of six patrol beats, due to the formation of the 650 sector, the North Central Operations Division now has thirty-three patrol beats within five sectors. Beats have remained unchanged since 1995.
