Dallas Police Volunteer Programs

NOTE:  ALL OF OUR PROGRAMS ARE STRICTLY NON CONFRONTATIONAL!

The Dallas Police Department currently has several volunteer programs.  All volunteers must attend the required training course for the desired program.  Most training classes are offered at the seven substations and usually last between 3 to 12 hours, depending on the program requirements.

Our current programs are:

  • VIP-Volunteers in Patrol: This program is designed to  reduce crime by having citizens patrol their own neighborhoods and reporting any suspicious or criminal activity to the police.
  • COPS: Community associations organized and managed at the neighborhood level to deter crime. These watch programs have a demonstrated history of reducing crime. Hundreds of neighborhood watches already exist throughout Dallas and need on-going support from the public.
  • Citizen's Police Academy: Community associations organized and managed at the neighborhood level to deter crime. These watch programs have a demonstrated history of reducing crime. Hundreds of neighborhood watches already exist throughout Dallas and need on-going support from the public.
  • Neighborhood Crime Watch Programs: Community associations organized and managed at the neighborhood level to deter crime. These watch programs have a demonstrated history of reducing crime.
