Commander's Welcome

Deputy Chief
Israel Herrera
Central Patrol Bureau Commander
214-670-5059

Welcome to the Central Patrol Division web site. Historically, contact (and communication) between the police and the public Information was limited to chance encounter. A traffic stop. A citizen's call to 911. A traffic accident. Most of the time, contact was centered around a negative situation.

In recent years, the department has proactively pursued regular, positive contact with the citizens of Dallas. For example, Crime Watch groups invite, on a regular basis, officers to visit and speak with their groups.

Technology offers another way for even more regular contact between the department and the public. Central Division's Facebook Page, this web site, and other social media allow near real-time interaction between the public and the department. On the Central web site, see the "Social Media" tab for more information.

Information is perhaps the most valuable resource of the 21st century. Crime in Dallas is down, and much of the success can be attributed to better information, and better use of information.

Much of the information utilized by the department comes to us from you, the citizen. From tips on criminal activity in neighborhoods to information on the whereabouts of wanted persons, input from the community has proven to be one of the most important tools at our disposal in combatting crime. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of community involvement in combatting crime. From crime watch groups to suspicious person calls from individual citizens, your input, and your involvement, mean a great deal.

Please take some time to explore this site. Our goal is to provide as much information as possible to the community with regard to our operations, crime prevention, and community involvement.

Thank You,
