Dallas Police Athletic League awarded Grant

Since becoming a fully staffed and established entity in 2011, The Dallas Police Athletic League (PAL) has initiated several ongoing activities and camps for the youth who live in some of the toughest neighborhoods in Dallas. With programs ranging from Robotics to Boxing, Dallas PAL has developed youth outreach touching many aspects of a child’s life. Recognizing the impact that the Dallas PAL has had and hopes to continue, the Lucile W. and George R. Pattullo fund within the Dallas Foundation awarded a grant of $13,190 to the Dallas PAL program. This grant is for the Dallas PAL to further establish basketball skills, fitness and robotics programs in South Dallas and in particular, the Frazier Community.

In awarding this grant, the Dallas Foundation Director of Community Philanthropy issued this statement, “The Board recognized the importance of the work being done by the Dallas Police Athletic League and was pleased to support this program in honor of the Pattullo’s philanthropic interest.”

Of this award, Sergeant Sheldon Smith said, “It is my belief that the Dallas Police Athletic League received this grant because of the outstanding working relationship established with the Dallas Foundation who remains one of our organization’s greatest supporters.”
